St Mary’s Indoor Market
St Mary’s Indoor Market will hold a number of stalls inside the church selling a variety of items. This isn’t quite the May Fayre, but it’s still a chance to come and spot a bargain or a gift! It will also provide a chance to hear about the work of The Organ Project and some of the Parish history it has uncovered, as well as the opportunity to take part in Fratton Big Local’s latest consultation on their future plans.

Fratton Big Local Community Picnic supported by The Organ Project
There will be free entertainment, music, and craft activities, as well as a refreshment stall where you can buy hot drinks and cakes. There will also be another chance to take part in Fratton Big Local’s latest consultation on their future plans. Please bring your own picnic to enjoy on the grass. Numbers are limited, so you will need to book your spot, either by emailing community@frattonbiglocal.org.uk or contacting 07841 341 969, by 5pm on Thursday the 12th August.

Messy Harvest at St Mary’s Church
A ‘messy harvest’ morning, with activities for children focussing on God’s creation and climate justice using music, art, craft, and play, which will end with a free hot lunch. Choir Open Evening
St Mary’s Church choir is holding an open evening for prospective choristers (ages 7-13) on Monday 11th October. If you enjoy singing and would like to learn a little more about the choir, singing in St Mary’s, and the many opportunities that are available to youngsters who are part of the choir, please do come along – all are welcome. Where There is Light
‘Where There is Light’ raises questions about where we find light in our lives, in ourselves, in others and in the world around us. With a soundscape showcasing interviews captured during lockdown in 2020, the installation aims to bring people together and encourage a sense of connection and hope. Portsmouth Choral Union – Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem
The PCU are celebrating their return to singing, and reflecting on recent times, with one of the most beautiful pieces: Fauré’s Requiem. In his seven-section Requiem, the French composer Gabriel Fauré wrote some of the most beautiful melodies he ever composed. Come and listen in the beautiful St Mary’s Church. The Organ Project: Organ Recital given by Joel Colyer
Our 2021 Organ Recital series concludes with a recital given by Joel Colyer, Organ Scholar at Portsmouth Cathedral. Joel Colyer was born in Manchester in 2003 and lived there for 18 years before taking up the organ scholarship at Portsmouth Cathedral in September 2021.
