Do Something Different Day
A Do Something Different Day for older people, with crafts, conversation, coffee and games, followed by a lunch and then afternoon tea and a film with popcorn. Tickets cost £6 to be paid on the day, but it is important that you book your place in advance by ringing the Portsmouth Deanery Office on 02392 822990, or emailing officeassistant@portseaparish.co.uk.
Outdoor Parish Mass & Celebration of Cycling
As part of our Patronal Celebrations, where we give thanks for the parish and all who live and work here, we will be holding an Outdoor Parish Mass in St Mary’s Church at 10am. Following this, there will be a Celebration of Cycling, where we will be celebrating cycling in the city with music and entertainment from Drumnation and our local Morris Dancers, arts and crafts activities, and a community picnic (please bring your own lunch). Choral Patronal Mass for St Mary’s
We will be joined by clergy, choirs and members of our local cluster of churches (St Luke’s, the Cathedral, the Church of the Ascension, St Saviour’s, and Holy Spirit, Southsea) for what should be a wonderful choral mass to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption and our Patronal Festival, with refreshments after. Parish BBQ Lunch
As we gather after the summer holidays, this will be a chance for us to catch up with each other and enjoy one another’s company over a BBQ lunch. Nearly New/Bric a Brac Sale
Coinciding with the Historic Churches Bike Ride, we will be holding a Nearly New/Bric a Brac Sale. If you can help, please speak to Shirley at St Mary’s. Music Foundation Concert – Emily Hicks
Our next St Mary’s Music Foundation concert will welcome the Dorset-based Soprano Emily Hicks, who will be singing a recital of songs for a late summer’s afternoon, including music by Handel, Puccini and Menotti. We do hope you’ll be able to join us for this FREE concert of music, in aid of the Music Foundation, which helps to provide young people in Portsmouth with musical education and opportunities.

The Royal Marines School of Music Christmas Concert
Join us for two evenings of breathtaking music, traditional carols, tinsel, mince pies and stunning performances from the next generation of Royal Marines musicians and buglers. Churches Homeless Action Carols
A celebration of the Christmas spirit as we come together to support and celebrate those in need. During the service, we will be distributing the vouchers collected as part of the Churches Homeless Action Scheme to share with those on the margins this Christmas.
