Choral Evensong & Benediction for Easter Sunday at St Mary’s
The choir of St Mary’s sing a traditional service of Choral Evensong which is followed by Benediction. Introit – Moles, Hail Easter Bright; Smith Responses; Psalm 105; Canticles – Stanford in C; Anthem – O Sons & Daughters, Walford Davies; Howells, O Salutaris Hostia. Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament, is a time of adoration in front of the Sacrament which concludes with the congregation being blessed by it.

The St Mary’s May Fayre
The Annual Community Fayre & celebration of life in Fratton is held in the church & grounds each May Bank Holiday Monday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Each year around 10,000 visitors enjoy this event with its variety of attractions – Real Ale Tent; Arena displays; Morris dancers; Bouncy Castle; Bands; Funfair rides & much more. D-Day 75 Caen Twinning Concert
Concert to mark the 75th Anniversary of D-Day with a visiting choir from Caen called Veni, Vidi Canto, and also featuring: The St Mary’s Church Choir, The Fine Voice Academy, Miss Becki Short – 40s performer (and her entourage including the Oasis Community Choir), and The Haven Community Choir. Join members of the local branch of the Dickens Fellowship in celebrating the anniversary of his death with a service and tea at the Church where he was baptised. Edinburgh Woollen Mill Fashion Show at St Faith’s
With ladies and menswear, a light hearted and fun summer fashion show to appeal to everyone. The show is presented by the manageress of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Southsea with “familiar” local models. There will be a 20% discount on any garments purchased at the show. Tickets are £5 and profits will go to Portsea Parish church funds. The Great Get Together Procession – Fratton Community Centre to St Mary’s Church
An event organised by Fratton Big Local as part of the national Get Together celebrations to build up community life. The procession will end with the placing of a “time box” in the vault at St Mary’s Church (to be opened in 10 years’ time). Come and celebrate our community and its life.

Love Our Oceans / Messy Blue at St Mary’s
Free climate change event, 10am – 12pm, with lots of activities for children and lots for adults too! Displays by Greenpeace, Christian Aid, Fairtrade and many others. Speakers from A Rocha and Wildlife Trust including Meric Srokosz of the National Oceanography Centre and author of “Blue Planet, Blue God”. Please bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the church grounds at 12 o’clock.
Music for a Summer Afternoon, Strawberry Tea & Tower Open at St Mary’s
From 1:30 pm until 4 pm Music in the Church Yard The Music Foundation present Music for a Summer Afternoon. A selection of musicians perform works in the Church yard including brass music, choral music and other instrumentalists. The concert is free with a chance to give a donation towards the work of the St Mary’s Music Foundation charity which seeks to inspire local young people and support them in developing their musical skills.
