Saint Faith’s News
It’s nearly November and there is so much to look forward to and celebrate! If you have recently passed Landport Community Centre, you may just have noticed a bright yellow box! Yes, the much planned defibrillator, Saint Faith’s gift to the local community, has arrived and is in situ! We are thrilled that this is now in place; my thanks to the DCC and all who have been involved in its installation.
You may also have noticed the garden at the front of the church; it likes to grow doesn’t it?! During November, we will be receiving a visit from Goodgym. After jogging their way to us they will spend some time pruning and tidying up before they jog back to Fratton Community Centre. We will need to provide some gardening equipment on the night; if you are able to help with this, please let me know.
Of course, we are beginning to count the days to Hannah & Alex’s wedding on Friday 9th November. As with any wedding, there are some last minute things to be sorted but we are beginning to count the days! Please do hold Hannah & Alex, and their families in your prayers at this time.
We also look forward to welcoming babies Ajay and Calvin to the Christian family. We pray they will know God’s presence and love in their lives and that they will shine as lights in the world.
We are also looking forward to welcoming our uniformed groups for Parade Service on Remembrance Sunday. With this comes a change of mood as we gather to remember with thanksgiving and sorrow those whose lives, in world wars and conflicts past and present, have been given and taken away.
Our final Coffee Morning of the year is on Saturday 17th November. The DCC expressed an interest in supporting young people in need of mental health support. I am delighted to say that November’s Coffee Morning will be in aid of the Deanery Youth Chaplaincy’s Counselling project. The counselling project offers support to a number of students at college and Youth Chaplaincy are thrilled that we are supporting them in this way.
